Discovering Northern Europe on MSC

Arriving in Hamburg

Discovering our Ship—The MSC Preziosa

From the Hamburg Fish Market, we take a train to Kiel, Germany to board the MSC Preziosa. While we had watched videos and studied deckplans before sailing, we really did not know what to expect from an MSC cruise ship. How we were excited to see not only the ship but our deluxe balcony cabin in the Yacht Club.

The Yacht Club is MSC’s “Ship-within-a-ship” concept, similar to Norwegian Cruise Lines’ Haven or Celebrity’s Retreat. While we have not sailed on Celebrity (yet), we have sailed on NCL’s Haven several times and loved it. That being said, we actually thought that the Yacht Club was better than the Haven.

A tour of our Yacht Club Deluxe Balcony which was home for 23 days.

The City of Spires—Copenhagen

After leaving Kiel, we found ourselves in the capital city of Copenhagen. Nicknamed the “City of Spires” for its mix of Medieval and Renaissance buildings featuring roofs with spires, we ventured into the city on our own under a brilliant blue sky.

The MSC Preziosa was docked about 30 minutes away from the town. However, we found that MSC had regular shuttle service into the city. Unlike some other lines, there was a charge for this shuttle. Yet, it was not too expensive and saved a very long walk.
